Abstract :
The objective of this research was to analyze the role of the pharmacist in relation to people with the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The method used was an integrative review through a qualitative / descriptive study of similar articles and according to the theme. This is characterized by seeking publications in the field of pharmaceutical assistance aiming to detect similar or identical works on the theme that is intended to be developed. It is a rigorous and explicit method of identifying, evaluating and synthesizing original scientific articles, retrieved from the main sources of scientific information relevant to the topic and allowing the result of the study to be verified, checked and reproduced. The results of the research showed that the Pharmacist develops a variety of actions in the day-to-day work, that is, systematizes the actions of pharmaceutical assistance, raises awareness and controls the rational use of medicines, ensures their dispensation to patients through SUS, promotes the quality and conservation of medicines, is responsible for the physical structure of pharmacies, especially public ones, implements a phytotherapy program and so on. We conclude that it is the competence of the pharmacist to inspect, store, register and control the dispensing of drugs that are part of the cocktail donated to HIV carriers. Their presence in free pharmacies is of paramount importance and indispensable, as it ensures the right of these patients to have access to treatment based on antiretroviral drugs.
