Abstract :
Rehabilitation, when undertaken in the context of the social model of disability, has the capacity to provide social inclusion. In this way, music is one of the actions foreseen throughout the rehabilitation process of the visually impaired person, but studies on this theme are still scarce in collective health. The purpose of this study is to know to what extent the experience of group music practice is related to the rehabilitation process of the person with visual impairment and its repercussions on the dynamics of the lives of the protagonists involved. Under a qualitative approach, three sessions of focal groups with visually impaired people participating in a university extension group were held between the months of August and September 2019. The thematic analysis subsidized the categorization and interpretation of the data. It was evident that music, when developed in group, can contribute to the reencounter of the subject who loses his sight with himself and with society through the establishment of bonds of friendships, the appreciation of human potentialities, in the development of new skills and competences. In this encounter, vicariance and interdependence reveal themselves to be key motor and leather pieces for opening up creative possibilities for the reconstruction of lives by conforming new senses to existence.
